Shorebird Stewardship Update July 6-8



The birds seem to be doing quite well after some of the Fourth trauma they endured! In fact, our black skimmers have chicks! The black skimmer parents are particularly protective right now and will definitely let you know if you are too close! There are chicks of all kinds running around out there, and so now is a crucial time for stewarding and keeping them safe!


Thank you again to those of you who joined me on the beach this weekend. We were fortunate to have some help from students and a professor from FGCU, as well as some of our faithful regular stewards. As always, Jim Convery took some fantastic shots and has allowed me to share them with you.
