Weekend Recap:
On Friday I was joined by Rochelle Streker from Audubon Florida and my assistant Hannah in a survey of Carlos Beach and some of the adjoining CWA, and then a survey of Bunche Beach, however the tide was too high for the mudflat to be exposed. This was a great learning opportunity for Hannah and I to absorb some of Rochelle's incredible winter plumage shorebird ID knowledge, and brush up on the finer details of conducting a proper survey.
On Saturday morning I returned to Bunche Beach early with Jim from Audubon SW FL, where we were happy and surprised to be in the company of the San Cap Audubon group on their own birding field trip. Tide conditions were much more favorable, and about half of the mudflat was exposed, yielding more birds.
