Ocala Outdoor Adventure Camp
The camp occupies a 57-acre peninsula, rich in history and wildlife, on Lake Eaton in the Ocala National Forest. Facilities are rustic, yet comfortable, with air-conditioned cabins and dining hall. Our “Classrooms” consist of outdoor shooting ranges, a fishing pier, Lake Eaton and the vast Ocala National Forest.

The Mission of the Ocala Outdoor Adventure Camp is to provide campers with the necessary skills and knowledge to become better sportsmen and women, while instilling an awareness of firearm safety and wildlife stewardship. In addition to hunter safety, all campers will enjoy fishing, canoeing, swimming, hiking and many other outdoor activities.

The Everglades Youth Conservation Camp
The Everglades Youth Conservation Camp is located on the J.W. Corbett Wildlife Management Area owned by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The Everglades Youth Camp is now operated by Florida Atlantic University's Pine Jog Environmental Education Center. For more Information visit www.pinejog.org

Immersion in nature is the key to success with the Eco-Interpreters. Through a guided nature journey of surrounding ecosystems, campers will learn the key tools required to becoming a wildlife interpreter from animal tracks to tree and flower identification. Photography and journaling are key elements to an eco-interpreter's experience at camp. Campers will receive instruction in wildlife photography and journaling to further develop their relationship with our natural communities and widen their individual "eye" for nature.

American Ground Water Trust
Ground Water Institute for Teachers
For teachers and educators

The aim of the Ground Water Institute for Teachers program is to increase water awareness of teachers, school students, citizens, and communities so they may recognize the connected and integrated nature of the environment and be empowered to play an active role in protecting resources for sustainable use. The Trust believes that teachers who are excited about environmental education and who are provided with training in environmental principles will be more likely to effectively teach environmental concepts to their students.Students made aware of “cause and effect” related to water resources and aquatic habitat are likely to become motivated to protect and conserve resources. Increasing the environmental awareness of citizens and communities is a vital need worldwide, and specifically in Florida because of the state’s finite resources and increasing environmental pressures.

Audubon of SW Florida was one of the sponsors of an Institute held June 28 and 29th in Ft, Myers. Although registration is free to teachers, it takes about $400 per teacher to hold the workshop. With support of our members, you, we will help host additional workshops in 2008.
